finally a typewriter you can email

Use the mail form below to send us a message in no more than 140 characters, turn up the sound, wait a few seconds (or a bit more if there is a queue) and gasp a tiny bit as your message is typed out by Otto (Finally A Typewriter You Can Email’ [trademark not pending].

The typewriter is awake during weekday business hours. Messages at other times will be printed when it wakes up.

looks like the typewriter has a word limit. anyway, this is so cool. the computer’s great grand clunky forefather has got us talking again. neat.

@kedar thanks, man. we set it to accept 160 characters. it can in theory accept much longer messages, but we thought some people would try to hog it, so we’re going to try keeping it short. we might extend it as we go. stay in touch! adil

Love Otto, the return of the telegram – fingers up to wasting paper…we all love communicating, a subliminal caress……..although I still wonder on the message: why we have one mouth and two ears? Is Otto our second voice? Let’s get Apple to design one for the home, so we can do away with Royal Mail once and for all – conceited monopolists!

A lovely interaction. can I suggest an upgrade? Could you physically limit the number of characters that can be typed into ‘message’ box above? This would prevent people from writing messages that accidently overrun the 140 character limit and getting cut off. Thanks!

fdbk – good idea. we’re re-doing the website, so we’ll add it to the list.
